Former India player and the current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, celebrated Durga Puja with Indian women great Jhulan Goswami.
Sourav shared the picture on his instagram handle and wrote – “It is that time of the year we all look forward to ..shubho mahasosti..happy Durga puja to all.
He recently inaugurated Garia’s Navo Durga Puja pandal, whose theme was Lord’s balcony, where Ganguly took off his jersey and waved it to celebrate India’s win in the final of the NatWest tri-series in 2002.
Jhulan played his last game at Lord’s against England. She finished her career with 255 wickets in 204 ODIs, a world record. Jhulan dismissed two English batters as the visitors won the final game by 16 runs to complete the 3-0 clean sweep over the hosts.
“‘I am happy for her. She had a remarkable career, and I enjoy a cordial relationship with her. I had a lot of discussions with Jhulan Goswami regarding women’s cricket development,” said Ganguly.
“She is a role model, and finishing your career at Lord’s is a dream,” he added.
