Mohammad Kaif has spoken in favour of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, saying some of the selectors want the two legendary players to fail to remove them from the team. He mentioned that a narrative was built against the two senior players, but they should play in the 2027 ODI World Cup due to their experience. Virat and Rohit have already retired from T20Is and Test cricket and are only active in the fifty-over format.
Kohli and Sharma played in the ODI series in Australia, and the two started the series with failures. The Aussie bowlers easily undid Rohit (8) and Virat (0). In the second contest at the Adelaide Oval, Rohit amassed 73 runs, but Kohli registered another duck. However, the two were unstoppable in the final game, with Rohit scoring an unbeaten hundred while Virat posted a half-century.
“They know that people are waiting for their failures. Some selectors and media people don’t want to see them among runs. Both of them are determined to prove their critics wrong. They were focused and calm. They want to go out on their terms and will not give up,” Kaif said.
Virat and Rohit added an unbeaten 168 runs for the second wicket. Kaif wants to see them in the 2027 World Cup.
“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are a must for the 2027 ODI World Cup. You need these two on the bouncy tracks of South Africa. People are supporting them because they know that these two haven’t done anything wrong,” Kaif added.
