Blessing Muzarabani was named the Player of the Match for taking four wickets.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza lauded his team for their sensational 23-run win over Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Chasing 170, the Aussies kept losing wickets, and their batters struggled to tackle the Zimbabwe bowlers, with pacer Blessing Muzarabani taking four wickets as Travis Head’s team was dismissed for 146 in 19.3 overs. Fitness issues impacted Raza, and he was in the dugout during the second innings.
He spoke about his injury after the match. “All I can tell you is that these are just cramps and I should be fine in the next day or two,” he said.
Raza lauded his players, calling them younger brothers.
“I am proud and happy. Feeling of a brother whose younger brothers are achieving a lot together. Our culture, environment, and unity are amazing, and to win a match against Australia is unbelievable. We were at 70 in the 10 overs and were not looking to target 190. There was a possibility of getting out on 140 as you end up losing wickets in Sri Lanka if you try to hit too hard,” he added.
“We told Benny to stay in the middle till the end, as he was doing fine. Our fielding was superb, and we took some good catches,” he mentioned.
Sikandar opined on the growing injury list. “We have just 13 fit bodies right now. I went down, and Cremer has a niggle. I am sure Zimbabwe Cricket is looking into the replacements because you need 15 fit palyers in these conditions. The boys deserve to enjoy and celebrate today. We are in a great position, but the next game is now the most important one,” he concluded.
