With knocks of 64, 43, 98* and 82*, Shubman Gill has shown his class in one-day internationals for Team India. In the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the young batter has done an excellent job for the Men in Blue.

In fact, former India cricketer-turned-pundit, Aakash Chopra, feels he can replace Virat at the No.3 spot in the ODI team.

“Rohit Sharma will open with Shikhar Dhawan in the ODIs. Virat plays at No.3, but Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill are the top contenders to replace him when needed,” said Chopra.

“Shubman has been tremendous for the team and is the future. He will be in the top three in white-ball cricket,” he added.

Chopra said Gill would dethrone the top Indian players from their positions if he continues to score runs.

‘He has scored runs as an opener for Gujarat Titans and India. He is ready to dethrone the top performers from their positions. Gill can replace anyone if he scores run at a fast pace.”
