Aakash Chopra has lauded Shubman Gill for his magnificent run in international cricket. The 23-year-old batter smashed an unbeaten 126 in the final T20I against New Zealand, the highest score by an Indian player in this format.
The right-handed batter has scored a Test century and three ODI hundreds, including a double ton, in the last two months.
“We used to say Shubman Gill is the future of Indian cricket, now he has become the present of Indian cricket. His potential was seen during the U-19 World Cup. He started playing well and I asked people to watch him because he has something special,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“When he made his Test debut, I was unsure of his success. However, he batted well at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and hasn’t looked back. He has been consistent,” he added.
Chopra highlighted that Gill has set the stage on fire in the last few months.
“He was among runs in the Indian Premier League 2022 and the last three months have been superb for him. He has struck a lot of centuries and proved that he is here to stay.”
