Shubman Gill India's new face across all three formats
Shubman became the 5th Indian batter to slam a double-ton in ODIs.

Former India player Irfan Pathan was full of praise for Shubman Gill after the 23-year-old scored his maiden double-hundred in one-day internationals.

Gill played a stunning innings in Hyderabad, hitting 19 fours and 9 sixes against New Zealand.

Gill’s 60-run partnership with Rohit Sharma, 65-run with Suryakumar Yadav, 74- run with Hardik Pandya and 43-run with Washington Sundar took the home team to 349/8 in 50 overs.

Irfan said that Gill gave a reply to Ishan Kishan’s double hundred with a double hundred.

“He was under pressure after Ishan Kishan was dropped despite scoring a double-century in Bangladesh. Gill was preferred over Ishan in the series with the Dasun Shanaka-led team. He showed his skills in the last ODI with Sri Lanka, where he slammed a hundred, and today he gave a reply to Kishan’s double hundred with a double hundred. He is the next superstar in international cricket,” he said.

He scored 208 off 149 balls.
