Iyer must not be dropped at any cost, and neither should Mayank Agarwal, who hasn’t got enough opportunities to find his rhythm back in a stop-start Test career.

Shreyas Iyer is dealing in runs in the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand in Kanpur. After scoring 105 runs in the first innings, he amassed 65 in the second innings. Iyer was dismissed by Tim Southee.

He becomes the first Indian to score a hundred and fifty on the Test debut. The right-handed batter has kept the hosts in the game after quick fall of wickets on the fourth day of the match.

Earlier, Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee dismantled India’s top order in the first session, leaving the Ajinkya Rahane-led team in trouble. The two pacers have taken three wickets each so far.
