Shreyas Iyer and New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr were named the ICC Players of the Month for February 2022.

During the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, Shreyas Iyer had a dream run where he scored more than 200 runs.

The right-handed batter took full advantage of Virat Kohli’s absence and remained unbeaten throughout the contests.

The middle-order batter has amassed 254 runs in the last 5 games and is second on the list of most runs in the last 5 T20I innings.

Mohammad Rizwan heads the table with 282 runs under his belt. KL Rahul (253), Jos Buttler (245) and Nicholas Pooran (227) are the other top performers.

Iyer won two Man of the Match awards and the Player of the Series against Sri Lanka.

Iyer’s total of 204 runs in the three-match series helped India wrap up a third consecutive T20 series sweep. India had previously beaten West Indies and New Zealand by the same margin.

This was India’s 12th consecutive win in T20 cricket, equaling Romania and Afghanistan’s record winning streak in the shortest format.

“All three knocks have been special,” he said. “The outfield was fast and I tried to hit the gaps. It has been a roller coaster journey after my injury. It requires only one ball to get into form.”
