Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has responded to Virender Sehwag’s statement on his bowling action. Sehwag had claimed the speedster was a chucker.
Sehwag was able to read Brett Lee’s deliveries as his hand came down straight. However, he had difficulties facing Shoaib as he couldn’t guess where the hand and ball would come from.
In reponse to Sehwag’s claims, Akhtar asked the legendary player to refrain from passing such comments. He also highlighted the political tensions between India and Pakistan, adding he doesn’t want to make any remark which could impact the relationship further.
“I would request Sehwag to not pass such comments. If he knows more than ICC, he is entitled to his opinion. My reply to him will be different. I feel he was one of the greatest match-winners India has ever produced. I am at that stage where I have to be careful while dishing out my opinions. I don’t want to insult any player,” Akhtar told Sportskeeda.
“Sehwag is a close friend, and I don’t know whether it was a joke, or he was serious.”
“Cricketers should make sure their statements don’t disturb the harmony between the two countries. If there is a scope for improvement in relations between India and Pakistan, I should play the role of a bridge. I urge Sehwag to be mindful while making statements,” he added.
