Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar believes that Shikhar Dhawan’s T20I career is over. The legendary cricketer said that if the left-hander was in the scheme of things, he would have been called up in the national team.

“I don’t see him playing in T20Is. If he was in scheme of things, the selectors would have selected him for the Ireland series. Almost all the senior players are in England. He was not even consider for matches in Ireland, which means his career is over,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Despite scoring above 450 runs in every single edition of the Indian Premier League for the last seven years, the senior pro has failed to impress the national selectors.

India will play two T20Is against Ireland and five T20Is against England. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to return for the games against the Eoin Morgan-led team.
