Former India skipper Virat Kohli has been lambasted for his poor form with the bat and opting for rest from white-ball series in West Indies and Zimbabwe.
Former players feel Virat should have played to come out of his rough patch. But with Kohli extending his break, experts have expressed their concern. Shikhar Dhawan has given his verdict on the same.
Following IPL 2022, Virat only played in England. He failed to perform in a Test match and white-ball matches.
Speaking to Indiatoday.in, Dhawan defended the 33-year-old. “A player needs a break to give better performances. If he plays continuosly, there is a chance of mental fatigue. Even cricketers are humans and they also deserve proper workload management. I feel the selection committee understand the importance of rotating players,” said Dhawan.
