The team led by Ajinkya Rahane won the recently contested series in Australia. Despite Virat Kohli’s absence following the birth of his daughter, India scripted a memorable comeback after losing the first Test.
While leading experts lauded Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy, many have also praised Ravi Shastri for motivating the players at a time when things were not fine.
Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja lauded Rahane for his calmness as a skipper but also said he would give credit to Ravi Shastri.
“I give the most credit to coach Ravi Shastri because brain trust comes under pressure after getting all out for 36,” Raja said while speaking on YouTube channel Cricket Baaz with Waheed Khan.
He was full of praise for Shastri for lifting the spirit of the Indian team after the first Test.
“To lift up the team at that time, and when superstars are also not available, still creating an environment in the dressing room that we are not less than any teams, and then also explaining the situation to the players, is not easy. The new players that came also performed really well.”
