Overview:
Tharoor further urged India head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to fast-track the youngster into the national setup.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s breakout year shows no signs of slowing down. As 2025 heads toward its final stretch, the teenage sensation continues to rewrite the record books. On December 24, the 14-year-old produced a staggering knock, racing to the quickest 150 ever recorded in List A cricket, eclipsing the mark previously held by AB de Villiers.
Suryavanshi’s breathtaking 190 off just 84 deliveries triggered widespread acclaim, with senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor likening his precocious skillset to that of a young Sachin Tendulkar. Tharoor further urged India head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to fast-track the youngster into the national setup.
“The last time a fourteen year old showed such prodigious cricketing talent, it was Sachin Tendulkar – and we all know what became of him. What are waiting for? VaibhavSuryavanshi for India!” posted Tharoor on X.

Bihar dismantled the record books in emphatic fashion as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Sakibul Gani unleashed blistering centuries, both reaching three figures at unprecedented speed. The onslaught propelled the side to an unprecedented 574 for 6, the highest team aggregate ever recorded in a Vijay Hazare Trophy fixture on Wednesday.
Arunachal Pradesh struggled to contain Bihar’s batting onslaught in the Plate Group match. Captain Sakibul Gani raced to 128 off 40 balls, reaching his century in just 32 deliveries — the fastest hundred by an Indian in List A cricket.
Teenage opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi had already set the innings on fire with a sensational 190 from 84 balls, including 15 sixes and a 36-ball century. Wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka also contributed with a whirlwind 116 off 56, though the spotlight remained on Suryavanshi and Gani’s extraordinary hitting.
Suryavanshi’s fearless display against a modest attack provided the perfect launchpad, allowing his senior teammates to carry Bihar to a record-breaking team total in the 50-over competition.
Centuries from Suryavanshi, Gani, and Loharuka propelled Bihar past the previous record of 506/2, which Tamil Nadu had set against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022-23 season.
