Dinesh Karthik Joins Sharjah Warriorz for ILT20 Debut

Dinesh Karthik is set to appear in the International League T20 (ILT20) for the first Sharjah Warriorz have roped in Dinesh Karthik as a replacement for Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka.

Karthik’s career highlights include winning the 2013 IPL with Mumbai Indians, and was also a part of the Indian squads that clinched the 2007 T20 World Cup Trophy and the 2013 Champions Trophy. He retired from domestic and international cricket in 2024, and the veteran has been working as a coach. He is taking care of the batting department of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won the IPL title in 2025.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to become part of the Sharjah Warriorz for the upcoming ILT20. The side is full of energy and ambition. The Sharjah stadium holds a unique place in cricket, and getting the chance to play here with this franchise is truly a dream fulfilled,” Karthik said.

Tim David, one of the overseas stars for Sharjah Warriorz, worked with Dinesh Karthik at RCB during IPL 2025. Karthik is renowned for his hitting abilities.

Dinesh Karthik has featured in 412 T20 matches, scoring 7,437 runs from 364 innings, which includes 35 fifties. For India, he has appeared in 60 T20Is, producing 686 runs in 48 innings at a strike rate of 142.61.
