Shakib Al Hasan will return home from South Africa after several family members were hospitalised due to various ailments.
CB’s cricket operations committee chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the news to ESPNcricinfo, saying that the all-rounder has been allowed to leave the team with immediate effect on humanitarian grounds.
The visitors will take on the hosts in the third ODI on March 23.
Earlier, he had refused to tour South Africa, and the relationship between him and the Bangladesh Cricket Board had turned sour. He was rested from international cricket till April, but Shakib agreed to tour the rainbow nation after a lengthy discussion.
Shakib played an essential role in Bangladesh’s first-ever victory in an ODI match in South Africa when the sub-continent country defeated the Proteas in the opening game of the series.
