Shakib Al Hasan is ready to tour South Africa after initially saying no to the upcoming matches. He was rested by Bangladesh Cricket Board till April after his latest refusal.
“I spoke to [BCB president Nazmul Hassan] Papon bhai for the last two days, when we planned the entire year. I am available for all three formats,” Shakib said in a joint press conference with Hassan and other board members on Saturday. “The board will decide when to give me rest, that includes the South Africa series. I am available for the SA series.”
Hasan explained that after the BCB had reacted to his request for rest, the two met to discuss the situation. “After reaching Dubai, Shakib told me that can’t go to South Africa because he is physically and mentally tired. We granted him leave. He was having trouble making up his mind so we supported him,” said Nazmul Hassan.
“However, Shakib had a change of heart decided to make himself available. Shakib is available for all formats of the game and will travel to South Africa tomorrow. If he skips a match in this series, please accept it. He wants to play,” he added.
