Shahid Afridi has lashed out at the skipper for taking pressure on him and suggested he play freely.

Virat Kohli was unpleasantly removed from ODI captaincy with no proper communication from the BCCI. Instead of the national selection committee, Sourav Ganguly spoke on the whole matter.

Virat refuted his statement, stating that he did not request him to continue as a skipper. And now Shahid Afridi has reacted on the matter. According to him, the process was not followed, and there was a lack of transparency from the board’s side.

“This could’ve been handled in a better way. I’ve always believed that the role of a cricket board is very important. The selection committee should efficiently communicate their plans for any particular player – ‘this is our plan, we believe it is better for us. What do you think?’ – something along these lines,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

Afridi further said that instead of speaking to the media, the BCCI should have talked to Virat face to face.

“If you communicate these things via media, there will be issues. Talk face-to-face, and we might have solutions. This won’t be solved if you keep dragging it. There should be no communication gap between players and PCB, or any board for that matter,” said Afridi.
