Shahid Afridi is leading the charge since become chief selector of Pakistan. The veteran has added a couple of youngsters to the squad in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.
Former Pakistan player are lauding Afridi for his efforts in a short span of time. After Shoaib Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq has heaped massive praise on Boom Boom Afridi.
“PCB Interim Selection Committee has added Arafat Minhas (Multan), Basit Ali (Dera Murad Jamali) and M.Zeeshan (Faisalabad) to the Pakistan Test squad with the objective of providing them international exposure and experience,” PCB wrote on its official Twitter handle.
Reacting to this decision, Misbah called it a good initiative.
“Very good initiative by @SAfridiOfficial and the interim selection committee to attract youth in longer format of the game in the era of T20 and T10.This will definitely encourage youngsters to play red ball cricket which is the most important format for their development,” he wrote.
Earlier, Malik had highlighted Afridi’s move to include Sarfaraz Ahmed in Playing XI in the opening game against the Tim Southee-led team.
“Smart decision by Lala @SAfridiOfficial to use @SarfarazA_54 in test playing 11 today. I would suggest to use him in ODI’s too as he is very handy in the middle overs, as the next white ball worldcup is around the corner. Good ton by @babarazam258 too. All the best boys,” he wrote.
The previous selection committee was fired after Pakistan’s 0-3 defeat against England. Ramiz Raja was also sacked from the post of PCB chairman.
