CSK squad
Chennai Super Kings, are “clueless” about Ravindra Jadeja's availability in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been on the sidelines since the third Test of the four-match series against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was hit on his thumb by a short ball from Mitchell Starc during the Sydney Test and had to undergo surgery.

While there is still no clarity over his return on the field, Jadeja’s IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are also “clueless” about his availability in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Speaking to InsideSport, CSK’s CEO  Kasi Viswanathan said, “We really don’t know when Jadeja is joining us. He has to get released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).”

The MS Dhoni-led side has started its preparations for IPL 2021 in Chennai and the franchise will soon begin its camp in Mumbai from March 27.

Stephen Fleming and Cheteshwar Pujara have reached Mumbai along with some other players. We will begin our camp there on March 27-28,” Viswanathan added.

CSK had a forgetful outing last year in UAE as they finished seventh with just six wins from 14 games.

In IPL 2020, Jadeja smashed 232 runs at an impressive average of 46.40 and a strike rate of 171.85 with the highest score of 50.

With the ball, the 32-year-old scalped just six wickets at an economy rate of 7.67.

The Chennai-based franchise will begin its campaign against the last year’s runners-up, Delhi Capitals, on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
