Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli
Virender Sehwag named five best batters of IPL 16

The IPL 16 will come to a close on May 28, when Gujarat Titans face Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the finals. The 16th edition has seen several great individual performances, particularly for the batters.

The season has seen record-breaking centuries and also sixes. Reflecting upon another successful IPL edition, former India opener Virender Sehwag named his top five batters of the tournament.

Before revealing the names, the 44-year-old mentioned that he has intentionally left out openers from the list since they get many opportunities, which explains the absence of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

“Firstly, I would pick Rinku Singh. He needs no explanation, as he is the only batter in the history of the league to win his side a game by smashing five sixes off the last five balls.”

“Second would be Shivam Dube. He has struck 33 sixes and almost broke Shane Watson’s record for most sixes in an IPL season for CSK. The third on the list would be Yashasvi Jaiswal. I did state that I would not pick openers, but the young Royals batter has forced me to pick him up. “

“Then it would be Suryakumar Yadav. He was out of form after a string of poor knocks for India, and then to make a return of this sort is commendable. Last would-be Heinrich Klaasen. He batted down for SRH but made the most runs for them. He was brilliant.”
