The two added 82 runs against Hong Kong in 2025, going past the previous record of 70 runs scripted by Pakistan batters Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik in 2016.

Sediqullah remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 52 balls, with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Omarzai smashed the fastest fifty by an Afghan batter in T20Is. He amassed 53 runs off 21 balls, packed with 5 sixes and 2 boundaries.

Their sensational effort took the score to 188/6 in 20 overs in the first match of the Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

Mohammad Nabi contributed a well-compiled 33 runs off 26 balls, with the help of 3 fours and 1 six.

For Hong Kong, Ayush Shukla and Kinchit Shah took two wickets each. Earlier, Rashid Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the other teams in the group.
