Sarfaraz Khan is the best Indian batter in red-ball cricket at the moment. He has been scoring runs for the last three years, and his century count is growing.

However, despite his magnificent performances in Ranji Trophy, he continues to face rejection by the national selection committee.

He was expected to make the squad for the Test series against Australia, but his name was missing when the wise men of Indian cricket announced the team for the first two Tests.

Pat Cummins-led team will play four red-ball games in India in February and March.

According to the Times of India, Sarfaraz hasn’t been able to replicate his Ranji form for India A, which is the reason behind his non-selection.

Meanwhile, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan is unsatisfied with the logic and feels Ranji Trophy should be the sole criteria.

“Ranji trophy performances should be the first criteria for test selections,” he wrote on Twitter.

Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle also questioned the decision to keep Sarfaraz out.

“Very hard on Sarfaraz Khan who has literally broken the door down in first class cricket. You can’t do more than he has,” he wrote.
