The BCCI on Friday, in an official announcement, revealed that Sanju Samson has replaced unfit KL Rahul for the upcoming T20I series set to begin on 29th July.
KL Rahul was a part of the squad for the T20I series against West Indies, while he was recovering from a groin injury. However, his participation was subjected to his fitness.
Unfortunately, the LSG star tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of his fitness test. Meanwhile, Rahul has completed his mandatory isolation period, but the BCCI has asked him to rest for another week.
Hence, he was ruled out of the series. In the latest development, Sanju Samson, who was not a part of the T20I series, would stay back in the Caribbean for the five-match series.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul was named the vice-captain of the team. Rishabh Pant or Hardik Pandya is most likely to be named the vice-captain ahead of the 1st match.
