Pakistan captain Salman Agha won’t stop his players from making gestures in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India on Sunday. His statement came after a controversy erupted when Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan were seen making provocative gestures during the Super 4 game against India on September 24. Their acts were against the spirit of the game and forced the BCCI to lodge a complaint against the duo.
Agha said that he will not stop his players as long as they don’t cross the line. “Players have the right to express themselves. You can’t stop fast bowlers from showing their emotions. I won’t stop anyone as long as it is not in bad taste,” Agha said.
Rauf and Farhan pleaded not guilty during the ICC hearing. The hearing was chaired by match referee Richie Richardson, and the players were accompanied by team manager Naveed Akram Cheema.
Agha also reflected on his team’s two defeats against India in this year’s Continental Cup. “The pressure is always there on the players during the IND vs PAK matches. We lost the matches because we made more mistakes,” he added.
Sunday’s clash will be the first instance of India and Pakistan playing in the final of the Asia Cup.
