Mumbai Indians’ new signing Jonny Bairstow went all guns blazing against Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2025. Bairstow, who replaced Will Jacks for the playoffs, gave a sensational start to the five-time champions. He added 84 runs with Rohit Sharma in 7.2 overs. The Englishman scored 47 runs off 22 balls, laced with 4 and 3 sixes.
Bairstow played a reverse sweep on Sai Kishore’s delivery, but Sai Sudharsan managed to get a hand on the ball when he leaped to his left, and the white cherry ballooned in the air, and Gerald Coetzee, who was stationed in the short third man region, completed the relay catch.

Earlier, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first in New Chandigarh. His decision was backed by the openers Sharma and Bairstow, who didn’t allow the rival bowlers to settle down.
GT are under pressure, having lost two consecutive games before the playoffs. They were favorites to top the table but finished third in the standings. Although MI were defeated by Punjab Kings in their last league contest, they are a dangerous side.
The winner of the Eliminator will face PBKS in Qualifier 2 to stand a chance of making it to the final on June 3. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have booked their place in the finale after going past Punjab by 8 wickets in just 10 overs.
