Pakistan need to beat the rivals by 65 runs or more to make it to the semifinals and they have a chance to achieve it after putting the Lankans under pressure.
Sahibzada scored the second century of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, becoming the first batter to record the milestone in a single edition of the tournament. He faced 60 balls in his knock of 100 runs, laced with 9 boundaries and 5 sixes.
On the other hand, Fakhar, who was promoted to open the innings, was unstoppable and scored his runs at a strike rate of 200. The southpaw amassed 84 runs off 42 balls, with the help of 9 boundaries and 4 maximums.
Sri Lanka managed to pull things back in the death overs, with Shadab Khan (7), Mohammad Nawaz (0), Salman Ali Agha (0), Shaheen Shah Afridi (4) and Naseem Shah (1)returning to the dressing room without making contributions.
For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka took three wickets. Meanwhile, Pakistan need to restrict Sri Lanka under 147 to go through.
