Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th Test match in Mohali. The former India skipper will compete against the visiting Sri Lanka bowlers in the opening Test match of the series. To make the match memorable for him, the Punjab Cricket Association has decided to allow 50 percent to the stadium.

He will become the 12th Indian cricketer to complete the century of red-ball matches. The entire cricket world is paying tribute to one of the modern-day greats.

Former India player and the leading run-scorer in Test cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, has congratulated the champion cricketer.

“Virat Kohli, you’ve been able to motivate the next generation and that’s the your immense contribution to Indian cricket,” said Sachin Tendulkar.

“Virat Kohli had great Journey. During the 2007 Australia series everyone was talking about one player to look for the future and that is when I heard the name Virat Kohli for the first time. Good luck for your 100th Test match,” he added.

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI President, also paid tribute to Virat ahead of his milestone game.

“He (Virat Kohli) is fantastic. He has still some more time left in his cricketing career to achieve more milestones. I hope he continues in the same manner. I wish Virat Kohli all the very best for his 100th Test match,” said Sourav Ganguly.

The current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, lauded Virat.

“It is not easy to play 100th Test match. It’s incredible to see him (Virat Kohli) grow as a cricketer and as a person. Virat Kohli averages over 50, which is a great achievement. He is one of the greats of the game,” said Rahul Dravid.
