Rohit Sharma is one of the best batters globally, but a question mark remains on his fitness as he is injury prone. After injuring his left hamstring, the veteran was ruled out of the South Africa Test series. He was expected to recover for the ODIs, but the 34-year old has not passed the fitness test and is out of the ODI series as well.

The fans have slammed the new limited-overs skipper for his poor fitness standards. Meanwhile, Chetan Sharma, who heads the selection committee, was asked about Rohit and the change in leadership after the 2023 World Cup.

“I know but if you talk about the selectors, we are thinking about the T20 World Cup in 2022. We are also preparing for the fifty-over World Cup in 2023, but our first aim is the global event of the shortest formatg. Weformatspeculate on the future,” he said.

“No one wants to be ruled out, and we can’t think beyond 2023 for now,” he added.
