The team will remain in a bio-bubble until the Test series finishes on January 15, while the members of the ODI series will have to spend an additional eight days in a restricted environment, making it a total of 44 days under restrictions.

The national selectors have announced an 18-member squad for three Test matches.

A new Covid-19 variant, Omicron, has marred South Africa, and the Indian players have been instructed to adhere to all the protocols during their stay in the country.

The first match of the Test series will be played from December 26-30 in Centurion, followed by the second in Johannesburg from January 3-7 and the third in Cape Town from January 11-15.

The ODI series will start on January 19 in Paarl, which will also host the second game on January 21 before moving to Cape Town on January 23.
