Duanne Olivier was not included in the South African playing XI for the 1st Test match against India at Centurion.

Duanne Olivier was not included in the South African playing XI for the first Test match against India at Centurion. Victor Mpitsang, the convenor of selectors, has opened up on why Olivier is not playing in the ongoing match.

He said that the pacer is healthy, and since the player tested positive for Covid-19, he had to quarantine himself and could not get enough time to train for the series opener against India.

“Duanne Olivier returned a positive Covid-19 test result, which forced him to quarantine,” said Mpitsang, according to ESPNCricinfo.

South Africa didn’t want to take a risk with Olivier as there are two more matches to follow.

“He got infected while he was spending time with his family. Olivier also picked up a hamstring niggle during the two-day inter-squad match at the start of the camp, and the selectors decided to rest him.
