Aakash Chopra has pointed out that Team India relied too much on Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah for wickets in the fourth innings and that the other bowlers were a let-down. The visitors failed to defend targets of more than 200 runs in the two successive Tests in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The home team won both the games by seven wickets.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra highlighted the lack of support for two senior pros. “Shami and Bumrah bowled well, but where was the supporting cast. Shardul, Umesh or Ashwin did nothing when needed,” he said.

The former cricketer added that none of the Indian bowlers bowled well in the second innings.

“We saw five-wickets hauls from Shami, Shardul and Bumrah, but they failed to repeat the magic in the second essay,” he added.
