Ross Taylor joking admitted to being ‘jealous’ of Australian spinner Nathan Lyon after the latter was given a signed shirt by the Ajinkya Rahane-led Indian team for playing 100 matches in Test cricket earlier this year.
Interestingly, the New Zealand batsman also played his 100th Test against India in February last year. However, he did not receive a signed shirt from the Virat Kohli-led Team India in Wellington.
Earlier this year, moments after Team India’s memorable win at the Gabba, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side presented Nathan Lyon with a signed shirt for completing his century of appearances in the longest format of the game.
“I played India in my 100th Test last year, and I didn’t get a shirt. I’m a bit jealous of Nathan. We played a couple of series before, and I’m watching the game and I’m watching him (Lyon) getting a shirt and I’m like ‘Aaah, okay!’,” Ross Taylor said on The Grade Cricketer podcast.
Taylor although isn’t the only one who had missed out on the large-hearted gesture by the Indian Team. Notably, Egland Test skipper Joe Root was also not applauded by the rivals in a similar manner on his 100th Test match, despite scoring a brilliant double ton in Chennai.
