Rohit Sharma is leading India across formats in international cricket, but his fitness has come under the scanner. He has been rested or injured more often.
His form has been patchy, leading to massive flak from former cricketers and fans. However, India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev is fine with Rohit’s cricketing skills. Kapil said he has serious doubts over the fitness of the current leader.
“There is no shortcoming in Rohit Sharma. He is a good batter but there is a big question mark on his fitness. Is he fit enough? Because a captain should motivate others to get fitter and the teammates should feel proud of their captain,” Kapil said on ABP News.
Kapil said if Rohit improves his fitness, it will act as a motivator for the other players.
“I can surely say that there is a doubt over Rohit’s fitness. I know he hasn’t scored runs since taking over from Virat Kohli but I don’t think that there is any issues with his skills. He is a very successful cricketer and if he gets fitter, every player will rally around him,” he added.
