India skipper Rohit Sharma won fans’ hearts yesterday when he came to bat at the no.9 slot due to an injury he sustained earlier in the match.
The hitman dislocated his thumb while attempting a catch in the first innings and did not participate in the match until the Men in Blue lost their 7th wicket.
The 35-year-old struck an unbeaten 51(28) but fell five runs short of winning the match for India. Meanwhile, Sharma got ruled out of the 3rd ODI due to an injured thumb.
In the latest developments, prominent news sources confirmed that the Indian skipper will also miss the two-match Test series against Bangladesh from December 14.
India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to be roped in as Rohit’s replacement, while KL Rahul will lead the side.
“Abhimanyu has scored back-to-back hundreds in the ongoing A Test series. He will soon join the squad,” a senior BCCI source told PTI.
Besides, Abhimanyu, Saurabh Kumar and Mukesh Kumar could also replace the injured Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami in the series.
