The skipper himself feels that three contenders can replace him in the future.

Rohit Sharma is Team India’s captain across formats. After taking responsibility for the limited-overs cricket, he has been given the additional role of Test skipper as well.

The 34-year old would lead India in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Rohit is not a long-time captain considering his age, and India will have to groom leaders during his tenure. The skipper himself feels that three contenders can replace him in the future.

Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are being treated as potential captaincy candidates by the team management and the national selectors.

“If you talk about Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, these guys have a crucial role to play in the future for Indian cricket. They are also seen as possible contenders for leadership,” he said.

“It doesn’t really matter if a bowler or a batter is a vice-captain. But yes, Bumrah has a great cricketing mind and good way for him to step into the leadership role,” he further added.
