Team India captain Rohit Sharma is hoping that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be available for the last two Test matches against Australia.
Bumrah hasn’t played cricket since September 2022. Jasprit’s back injury has hampered his chances to play international cricket.
He was named in the squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka but was ruled out on the eve of the first game.
The pacer was also not considered for the first two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
“Not sure about Jasprit Bumrah. I am hoping he plays the last two Test matches against Australia. We don’t want to take risk with him as back injuries are critical. We have a lot of cricket coming up after the Test series,” he said.
“We are in touch with physios and doctors in NCA. The medical team will give him as much time as he wants before returning to competitive cricket.”
