Former England spinner Monty Panesar said Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin’s time is over. They should make way for young players after India’s semi-final defeat in the ICC T20 World Cup.
India lost to England by 10 wickets in the semi-final. Rohit Sharma’s team posted 168/6 after the fifties from Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli but was hammered by Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.
“India disappointed everyone, and some players are going to announce retirement,” Panesar told Times of India.
“India were clueless in the semi-final. It was a one-sided match. 168 was not a small score in the semis, but India didn’t give any fight,” he added.
He further said it is time for Rohit, Karthik, and Ashwin to leave the shortest format.
“Rohit, Dinesh Karthik, and R Ashwin should say goodbye to T20 cricket and allow the young players to take their places.”
