Captain Rohit Sharma believes that a more significant challenge than winning matches is to create bench strength.

The national selectors have announced the squad for the two-Test match series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma has replaced Virat Kohli as Test skipper following his resignation after a series defeat in South Africa.

“Rohit is the No.1 cricketer of our country. He’s fit and fine. The grooming becomes easy when a big player like him becomes a captain,” said Chetan Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah is the vice-captain of the Indian team.

The wise men have dropped Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara after their miserable performances in the last one year. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been recalled after being rested for the West Indies white-ball series.

After a long time, Kuldeep Yadav has also been included, while Ravindra Jadeja has made it to the squad after recovering from his injury.
