Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma believes there have been many positives since Rohit Sharma started leading India permanently. After Virat resigned from the T20I captaincy, the selectors removed him from the ODIs as well, replacing the 33-year old with Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai-based player got the captain’s armband in Test cricket, with Kohli deciding to quit as leader in the longest format of the game.

During a discussion on India News, Rajkumar Sharma was asked about Rohit’s performance as skipper. “There have been many positives since Rohit Sharma started leading India. A new coach has also come in the form of Rahul Dravid. The two have come with different thinking from Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri,” he said.

While highlighting the difference between Virat and Rohit’s captaincy, Rajkumar lauded the new skipper for grooming the youngsters.

“While Virat was aggressive, Rohit is calm to an extent. He is concentrating on building a team, and the best thing is that he is grooming the young players for the World Cup. Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are getting ready for big tournaments.”

Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer were India’s star performers in the last T20I series against West Indies and Sri Lanka. Ravi Bishnoi has also bowled well in the limited opportunities.
