Virat Kohli is currently on a break from cricket. He was rested from the ongoing West Indies tour to give him time to recharge his battery.

His recent slump has left the cricketing family divided. Many former players have demanded his ouster from the team, while the rest have backed the former skipper.

Meanwhile, former wicketkeeper Saba Karim has taken a neutral stance and instead urged the selectors to make up their minds on Virat Kohli.

Kohli has failed to touch the three-figure mark for almost three years and even failed to score a fifty in recent innings.

Amid questions about whether Kohli would play against Zimbabwe or be included directly in the Asia Cup, Saba Karim said he looks at it in a different way altogether.

“First, the selectors and team management have to decide whether Virat Kohli is essential for India’s T20 World Cup side or not. Once they feel that Virat is essential for the team’s success, then I chart a path for Virat Kohli’s comeback to form.”

He further added that once the management (Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma) has decided that Kohli is an integral part of their plans, then they should leave it up to him whether he wants to come back against Zimbabwe or in Asia Cup.

“I would not want to have any kind of imposition on Virat that – ‘Hey listen you have to come back and play the Zimbabwe series, otherwise we will not pick you for the World Cup T20.”
