Delhi Capitals have been one of the best teams in the two seasons of the Indian Premier League. They made it to the finale in 2020 and qualified for the playoffs in the next season.
Rishabh Pant has been inspirational as team’s captain since replacing Shreyas Iyer before the 14th season of the tournament.
His captaincy has been widely praised by head coach Ricky Ponting and other leading cricket experts. Pant’s former teammate Avesh Khan has lauded the young captain.
Avesh was recently bought by Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2022. “The last season was good for me as I was the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament. I was with Delhi Capitals for three years but played just two games in the first two seasons. But last year, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje were not available for two games and Ishant Sharma was injured,” Avesh told Boria Majumdar on the show ‘Backstage with Boria’.
“Ricky Ponting showed faith in me. Rishabh backed me a lot and said to me ‘You have only these two games to prove yourself. After that you’ll have to create a place of your own with your own efforts’.”
