Rathour said that Pant is a good player and can be tried up the order.

Rohit Sharma, the white-ball captain of India, had stated that the side would try different combinations in the upcoming matches in order to find the best team for the ICC events. The veteran also admitted that the Men in Blue are ready to lose matches in order to find suitable combinations. During the second ODI against West Indies, Rishabh Pant opened the innings with Rohit.

Shikhar Dhawan was included as an opener in the third and final match of the series. KL Rahul was recently ruled out of the T20I series.

When asked if Rishabh could open the innings in a three-match T20I series against the Keron Pollard-led team, the batting coach Vikram Rathour said, “We haven’t decided yet, and we still have a couple of days to go. I know KL Rahul is out of the series, but Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are available, so we will see.”

Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has raised his level of performance over the last few months.

Rathour further said that Pant is a good player and can be tried up the order, but currently, they are looking to utilize him in the middle order.

“Rishabh is a fantastic player and can play up the order but it depends on the situation. I am sure he will be a part of the team after the 2023 World Cup but we can utilize him more precisely in the middle order or lower order,” he added.
