Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is chilling out with the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni and his family these days, after returning from a successful tour of Australia where he fired the Indian team to a historic win in the Brisbane Test last week.
Rishabh Pant was seen with Dhoni and his wife Sakshi with the two busy on a video call with their friends. Sakshi took to Instagram and posted a picture with Dhoni and Pant. In the picture, Pant’s predecessor can be seen wearing a green party hat.
He ended up as the highest scorer for India in the just-concluded Border-Gavaskar series with 274 runs at an average of over 68. The 23-year-old struck a couple of half-centuries in the final two Tests in Sydney and Brisbane.
However, his 89* in Brisbane will be remembered by the entire cricketing fraternity for a long time. Pant’s exploits helped India end Australia’s 31 Tests unbeaten run at the Gabba and clinch the four-match series by 2-1.
Rishabh Pant, during a recent interaction with Sports Today, opened up on the emotions that he was going through during his match-winning knock. India had chased down 328 runs on Day 5 of the fourth and final Test to send the cricket fraternity abuzz.
“The mindset was always to play normal cricket, even the team management spoke about it in the first innings. Let’s look to score runs, cash in on the loose balls, just stick in there and do whatever you can at that time.
“The team management’s plan from the beginning of the match was ‘let’s look to win the match’. Even my thinking has always been to win. I just want to win every game, a draw is always the secondary option,” Pant said.
Pant will soon join Team India’s camp for the upcoming home series against England. India and England will play four Tests, starting from February 5 in Chennai, followed by 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.
