The governing body of Indian cricket, BCCI, has given a green signal to the tour of South Africa. However, the number of matches has been reduced. The visitors led by Virat Kohli will play 3 Tests and 3 ODIs in South Africa. The two national boards have agreed to postpone the four T20Is.
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, said, “India team will travel for 3 Tests and 3 ODIs in South Africa. The remaining 4 T20Is will be played at a later date”.
Virat Kohli, who has represented India in 97 Test matches so far, would play his 100th Test match in Cape Town in South Africa.
Virat Kohli would become the 12th Indian player to reach this landmark. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar (200), Rahul Dravid (163), VVS Laxman (134), Anil Kumble (132), Kapil Dev (131), Sunil Gavaskar (125), Dilip Vengsarkar (116), Sourav Ganguly (113), Ishant Sharma (105), Harbhajan Singh (103) and Virender Sehwag (103) have played more than 100 Tests for the sub-continent team.
Virat Kohli has scored 7765 runs in his Test career so far. The right-handed batter has hit 27 hundreds in the game’s longest format.
