Sri Lankan opener Danushka Gunathilaka has announced his retirement from Test cricket. However, he will be available for limited-overs formats. He is the second Sri Lankan player to bid adieu.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, citing family obligations.

Sri Lanka Cricket said the 30-year-old Rajapaksa wrote that his decision to stop playing will come into effect immediately.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Danushka Gunathilaka has informed Sri Lanka Cricket about his decision.

“It has always been an honour to play for my country and I hope to contribute to the best of my ability in the future by continuing to represent Sri Lanka whenever I am called upon to do so.”

In 8 Test matches, he scored 299 runs at an average of 18.7. He was serving a one-year ban by the board for breaching COVID-19 protocols in England last year. However, the ban has been lifted by SLC.
