Daniel Sams has tested negative for COVID-19, with the all-rounder joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) bio-bubble on April 17. The franchise had confirmed the news of Daniel Sams’ positive COVID-19 result on April 7.
Since then, Sams spent time in isolation at a designated medical facility away from the rest of the squad. The latest developments were confirmed by the franchise, ahead of their third game of the season against KKR, via a press release.
“We are pleased to inform that Royal Challengers Bangalore All- Rounder Daniel Sams, has joined the RCB bio-bubble on 17th April 2021 with negative reports for COVID-19,” the statement read.
“RCB medical team was in constant touch with Sams to ensure his safety and declared him fit to join the team after all the required examinations as part of the BCCI protocols,” it added.
This comes as a massive relief for RCB. He had joined from Delhi Capitals as part of a trade earlier this year, along with Harshal Patel, who currently holds the IPL 2021 purple cap. It will be interesting to see whether Sams will feature for RCB in their next game.
RCB will take on KKR at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday and former Australian spinner Brad Hogg feel Daniel Sams should replace Daniel Christian in the starting line-up. The veteran allrounder hasn’t done much with both bat and ball in the first two matches.
While the game against KKR may come too early for him, fans may catch a glimpse of him in the side’s match against RR on April 22. RCB are currently top of the table with two wins from as many outings.
