Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana said the batters got starts but couldn’t make it count as they lost the opening game against Delhi Capitals by 60 runs.
Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning scored half-centuries, while USA pacer Tara Norris took 5 wickets to take DC to a comprehensive win over RCB at the Brabourne Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
“We were looking to win the game but ended up giving 20-30 runs extra. We will comeback stronger in the next match,” she said.
RCB will face Mumbai Indians in their next contest on March 6.
“We will have to comeback tomorrow with a positive attitude and try to work on our shortcomings. I don’t think the wicket changed in the second innings,” she added.
The India vice-captain said RCB’s batters got off good starts but couldn’t continue.
“We all got starts but couldn’t win the game. Batters like me and Heather were set but couldn’t cross the line.”
