All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the most crucial players for Team India over the years. While Jadeja might not have been in the best of form with the ball for the past year or so, his batting has improved significantly, and is arguably the best fielder in world cricket, at present.
Jadeja fractured his thumb after being hit by a delivery during the 3rd Test against Australia. Thus, it came as a big blow for Team India, which already has a long list of absentees. However, Jadeja, despite being injured, was padded up to face the Australian bowlers with Team India’s back against the wall.
But, he wasn’t needed as R Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari produced a masterclass to pull off a memorable draw for the hosts. Jadeja has been ruled out of the series decider, to be played at the Gabba in Brisbane. He underwent surgery for his thumb, earlier in the day.
Jadeja took to Twitter to share a photograph for his fans on social media and promised to return with a bang. He wrote: “Out of action for a while. surgery completed. But will soon return with a bang!”
Though he didn’t feature at all in the second innings, Jadeja had bagged four wickets in the first, before playing gutsy knock at the end to take India over the 200-run mark. But, the highlight of the innings was his rocket throw to run-out centurion Steve Smith.
