Ravindra Jadeja is finally coming back to his best after a long injury layoff. After missing the Test series in South Africa, the southpaw was recalled for the red-ball matches against Sri Lanka.
He made the full use of the opportunity and amassed an unbeaten 175, laced with 17 fours and three sixes.
Jadeja shared three 100+ plus partnerships with Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami.
His innings took India to 574/8d. Ravindra also dismissed one batter in Sri Lanka’s first innings, and his all-round display took India to a dominating position.
The 33-year old surpassed Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni to register highest score for India at No.7 or below in a declared innings.
Pant scored 159 against Australia in 2019 while Dhoni accumulated 144 against West Indies in 2011.
