Ravi Shastri received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Ahmedabad.

India head coach Ravi Shastri on Tuesday received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Ahmedabad. The 58-year-old recently took to his official Twitter handle and shared a picture of himself in which he can be seen getting a vaccination shot at the Apollo hospital.

Captioning the post Shastri wrote, “Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India Flag of India against the pandemic.

“Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination.”

It is not yet confirmed if any other member of the Indian team received the vaccine. But as per the instructions of the government, people under the 45-59 year age group and those who have comorbidities will be vaccinated in the second phase of the vaccination drive.

Shastri is currently in Ahmedabad with Team India as the hosts are gearing up to play the fourth and final Test against England at the newly-revamped Narendra Modi Stadium.

Having taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the ongoing series, the Virat Kohli-led side will be looking to seal the upcoming match with another spectacular win.

India just have to play a draw in the fourth Test to secure their berth in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final which will be played at the Lord’s from June 18.

Notably, New Zealand, with 420 points, have already qualified for the marquee event.
